Screenings expanded from Vancouver and Victoria to international stages, including Nicosia, Nairobi, and Kigali — carrying the festival's mission well beyond Canada.

A new chapter

AEFF is founded

Africa Environmental Film Festival launches as a dedicated program of BCEFF, giving African environmental storytelling its own stage, awards, and pathway to a global audience.

Our first festival cycle

Submissions for AEFF's inaugural cycle close September 1, 2026. This is the beginning of the story — and we're looking for the films that will help tell it.
